About Vincent Poitout

Dr. Vincent Poitout received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the National Veterinary School of Alfort and his PhD in Endocrinology from the University of Paris 6. He then carried out his postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, under the direction of Dr. Paul Robertson. Dr. Poitout is a Professor of Medicine and Director of Research at the University of Montreal Hospital Center. Dr. Poitout has chaired the American Diabetes Association Peer Committee and Diabetes Canada National Research Council. He was a National Board member of the American Diabetes Association and a member of the Editorial Boards of Diabetes and The Journal of Biological Chemistry. He is Associate Editor for Diabetologia.

Dr. Poitout’s research is funded by the US National Institutes of Health, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada. Dr. Poitout has received several awards including the Thomas R. Lee Career Development Award from the American Diabetes Association and the Young Investigator Award from the Canadian Diabetes Association. He has published over 100 scientific articles and reviews. Dr. Poitout is a member of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences.
